201108 Update in Tembisa
August 2011
Dear Family and Friends,
This newsletter is a report back on the two new clubs which have begun in Tembisa. The club led by Gayle at Mashemong Primary on Tuesdays from 2:00 – 3:15pm and the club led by Nthabiseng at Siyazigabisa Home of Hope with Rebecca and Matthews helping her on Saturdays from 1:00 – 2:30pm.
These Bible clubs need specific prayer in certain areas, and we would value you taking these matters before Him who knows all things before we ask, yet He still wants us to plead with Him as His children 1 Thessalonians 5 : 17 “Pray without ceasing”. Colossians 4 : 2 “Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving”.
Nthabiseng:
We give thanks to the Lord for the recent Bible club begun at Siyazigabisa Home of Hope which is a day care centre for disadvantaged children in Tembisa. The club started two weeks ago, and because of the large number of children and lack of knowledge of the true living Word, we had to teach the first lesson for two weeks to ensure sound understanding. We thank God for the children that are willing to learn from the Bible and come to the club each week.
PRAYER REQUESTS:
- That the Lord may help us in the control and discipline of the children
- That the children may realise the importance and seriousness of the Bible club
- That we as teachers and helpers may continue to find strength and comfort from the Word
- Please pray for the team as they use public transport to get to the Saturday club
- That adults and children at the Home of Hope will come to a full understanding that Jesus is the Son of God
- Good relationships to be forged and valued as the work goes forward amongst the children
- God’s grace to equip us for the work in the township
- That the Word of God will prevail and change hearts and minds amongst the adults and children as Satan attempts to aim and fire his destroying darts into a good work
Isaiah 55 : 11 So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it”.
Gayle:
The first Bible Club at Mashemong Primary was held on Tuesday 26th July from 2 to 3:15pm, for Grades 6 and 7 learners. Many children attended, and were cooperative and well behaved. Mr Kgomo, a teacher at the school, is very enthusiastic and helpful and the children respond well to him. Mr Madzhadi, the principal, has made me very welcome at his school and I am grateful for his kindness.
At the second Bible club Aunty Jenni visited us and we all had a good and productive time together. The teaching on both days was on the Bible as the word of God which tells us about Himself. The children remembered what they had been taught the previous week, and listened attentively to the lesson – the concentration was good. The school is orderly and there is discipline, so the children learn easily and quickly. We sang and prayed and questions were answered well. It has been both a privilege and a joy for me to teach the children at Mashemong Primary.
The children, their parents, school staff and friends have been invited to the Bible club at Inxiweni Primary on Saturday 20th August in the afternoon. I hope that many will come and meet with the children from the clubs in other schools.
Please pray for continued good attendance and that I will teach the word of God boldly, clearly and confidently.
PRAYER REQUESTS:
- That the Lord would strengthen and encourage Gayle and Mr Kgomo (KGM leader) as they work with a large number of children
- Continued support from the school
- The powerful work of the Holy Spirit as Scripture is read, taught and learned
- Good health, physical and spiritual strength for the township work Psalm 28 : 7a “The Lord is my strength and my shield; in Him my heart trusts, and I am helped”.
Serving the next generation,
Gayle, Nthabiseng, Rebecca, Matthews and Jenni
