201101 Newsletter

25 January 2011

Dear Family and Friends

School begun last week Wednesday, and we were able to start with clubs and assemblies in that week. That was a blessing: thank you for your prayers; I am always encouraged and excited when I hear of folk in differing towns and countries praying for the children's work in Tembisa, thank you. "Pray often; for prayer is a shield to the soul, a sacrifice to God, and a scourge for Satan" – John Bunyan.

I have begun a new Children Desiring God curriculum for 2011 – The ABCs of God. This term we shall be going through some letters of the alphabet. "I" is for incomprehensible – God is more than we can fully understand. "Y" - YHWH – God desires to make His name known. "E" - eternal – God has no beginning or no end. "G" – glorious – the Lord shows His greatness and worth. "A" – almighty – God is all powerful, and so we will continue each week.

kgm at workI rely heavily on your prayers for consistent weekly teaching times, - in schools one is always guarding the precious times one has with the children.

As I sat preparing this morning on God's name YAHWEH and how He said to Moses after He had attracted His attention with the burning bush Exodus 3:14 God says to Moses, "I am who I am". I was excited going through the material knowing that I could share with the young ones this week that God is who He says He is. He will be who He is. He will also be what He was. He is what He is, the great "I am". The one true living God who is worshipped throughout all generations.

Back-tracking a little to last year, I had a very blessed time in Port Elizabeth from 06 – 19 December 2010. The time went speedily by, I got back into PE town and it felt like I had never left ! I was able to speak in four Baptist churches, speak at a youth group in Sidwell, visit folk from an HIV/AIDS centre in Kwa Nobuhle, speak of the children's ministry work in a ladies meeting, children's ministry training with ladies in Motherwell who had come from varying Baptist churches, met children's workers in Seaview, a family in Blue Water Bay, visited Mordecai Safe Haven, spoke with many and spent refreshing times with my friends. Was able to leave Sunday School material and tracts wherever I went, so all in all, it was good to be with known faces and also lovely to meet new ones.

Liz begun "arts and crafts" with the children Saturday gone by at Isiziba Primary, she taught the children how to make paper beads. Next time we meet we shall be varnishing the beads we have made at home in the meanwhile and then stringing them. We had a small group of children who had come from Isiziba, Endulwini, Nyiko, Bokamoso and Masqakaza schools. I enjoyed being a student again!

Gayle begun her Bible club at Inxiweni Primary on Wednesday, she had a good group of children attending and began with the story of Jesus healing the leper. Inxiweni Primary is a Xhosa speaking school and is very close to Isiziba and Nyiko schools.

Hope (ex Endulwini Primary) and Khaya (ex Thuthuka Primary) are regularly attending Birchleigh Baptist Church (where I fellowship). Last night the three of us went through to Constantia Park Baptist Church (Pretoria) for evening service. We have been praying that many children in Tembisa would come to salvation, that many souls would be saved from death and darkness. Here we see the work of the Holy Spirit in the lives of these two.

First week of school we had Khaya visit us at Thuthuka Bible club and last week Tuesday we had a visit from Amanda (who is now in Grade 8 at Bertharry Private School in Tembisa). Amanda begun with us mid year 2008, so it was good to see her. We miss many who have moved on to high school, some in schools that are far from us. The high schools often finish up later than primary, making it difficult for the older children to attend.

Some new tracts have been written: The Sovereignty of God, What really happened in the Garden of Eden?, Why should we believe the Bible ? And Loving the Law. A list of the tracts can be found under 'Literature' on the KGM website.Shane from Springs Baptist Church has been a busy bee updating the KGM website; please see the events that will be taking place during 2011.

We had made application for an NPO – Non Profit Organisation number through the Social Services Department. Today received an e-mail saying it has been approved; we await the NPO certificate in the post.

Serving the next generation,

Jenni

Items for prayer:

  • Consistent teaching times throughout this term
  • Hearts and minds changed by the Word of God and by His Spirit – Ps 33:4 "The word of the Lord is upright; and all His work is done in faithfulness".
  • Safety travelling in and out of Tembisa
  • Health in body and soul
  • That children in His time will be able to say Psalm 51:14b O God of my salvation, and my tongue will sing aloud of Your righteousness.
