Dear Family and Friends
Tembisan schools
Teaching began and continued on with the attributes of God last term with the children at the afternoon clubs and also in the assemblies. I was grateful for weekly teaching times and was able to cover the planned material for the term. Children all in all receptive still to the Word of God. The discipline in the schools has improved year by year, one can experience God’s truth permeating many facets of the school. This has been quite a witness to staff and parents.
Endulweni Saturday Bible Club

We had a lovely group of children who attended the Saturday Bible Club. The Saturday meetings are in the hopes of encouraging parents and guardians to join their children, to learn more about the Lord, but also to see how and what their children are being taught. Perhaps as the year continues with the planned clubs, family members will join us for these times. Folk from Constantia Park and Birchleigh Baptist Church came across to help with eats and refreshments and sat in on the lesson.
Feedback
Thank you to those who gave feedback on the KGM prayer guideline, attached is the second one for this year. Thank you for faithfully praying for the children’s work in Tembisa. Had an e-mail from a lady who said she is using the guideline for those who come together on a Sunday evening before service as they pray for missionaries around the world. Another e-mail from a lady in the Hex River Valley saying that her ladies Bible group are praying for the Tembisan work.
Tyndale Christian School
A few weeks back I was able to share the Tembisan work with the children at their school. Each year they have Founder’s Day where the children are exposed to missions and missionaries.
Arts and Crafts
Liz continues teaching the children how to cut and roll paper beads, varnishing and threading them. The children have made some beautiful necklaces and last time we met, they were also taught how to make earrings to match. Liz very kindly is funding the Saturday crafts, without her financial help, we would not have been able to continue with that this year.
Challenge Newspaper
Due to financial constraints this year, phoned the ministry that puts out the Challenge newspaper and without going into detail asked if they would cancel the subscription for the Tembisan children. A few days later I received a phone call from them asking the reason for my cancellation. Within a short while another phone call came saying that they would send me more newspapers than I normally received and would be shouldering the costs and also paying postage for them to be collected from the Post Office. The Lord showed His provision in this situation and in the same way for the Arts and Crafts. As the children and I learn each week who God is, one of the sessions we covered last term was : “P” for God our Provider. He shows Himself true in our practical daily living.
Tracts
The twenty four tracts are all ready and waiting to be printed in bulk. If you would want to give financially for the literature ministry, please let me know.
Inxiweni Afternoon Club (Gayle)
From Gayle:
The number of children attending the Bible Club each Monday afternoon varies. However, there are a small core of learners who are fairly regular. Please pray for more regularity in attendance, essential for continuity in the teaching. Progress is slow, but real.
Pastor Irving and Tim visited a club at the end of the term. It was a great encouragement to have them there. Irving gave me some helpful suggestions for lesson improvement for which I was grateful. I will implement these in the new term. The children enjoy having visitors - any who would like to join us are most welcome.
It was encouraging that eight learners from Inxiweni attended the THBC. They listened intently and some said afterwards that they had enjoyed it. I pray that they have benefited from the teaching and that God will bring fruit in His perfect timing.
One of the boys who attends the Sunday School at Birchleigh Baptist Church attended the THBC, and enjoyed it so much that he came to the repeat club at BBC the following week. This was an encouragement too.
THBC – Tembisa Holiday Bible Club
Mrs Khongolo, Rebecca and Nthabiseng taught and helped with the junior primary children, Gayle and myself worked with the senior primary. This year we are having the THBC’s at Isiziba Primary which makes it easier for children to attend. Isiziba is within walking distance of the other schools that are invited. Most children came on time, and many attended the three mornings. They understood well that Boaz was Ruth’s kinsman-redeemer, but Jesus the greatest Kinsman Redeemer of our souls.
They learnt too about John Paton, the missionary to the people ofVanuatu. When filling out their worksheets, there was huge competition to see who could put up their hand the quickest and answer, always a good indicator of what the children have been able to absorb. Men came from The Living Ball organisation to play with the children.
The smaller group did all sorts of fun games with Franna and Andre played with the older children teaching them Biblical principles interwoven with life skills during his games. God willing they will be coming back for the October THBC.
The Lord blessed the time we had during this club and I feel it was the most beneficial to them out of all the holiday clubs which have taken place. We trust the Lord for His continuing work in their hearts.
BBC HBC –Birchleigh Baptist Church Holiday Bible Club
Gayle had organised a club for her children at church and invited the children from Tembisa Bible Fellowship Church. Cindy had the young mothers and put a programme together for the toddlers. Once again there was much enthusiasm from the children to sing, learn from Scripture, read verses and portions from the Bible.
