Dear Family and Friends,
Another term has come to completion, and a huge praise, this term was able to teach weekly with only two cancellations, this very much from the hand of the Lord. Experienced too, His protection as we had rumblings again with rocks and “things” on the roads and the burning of tyres in the form of protest, so please give thanks to Him for allowing the work to speed ahead regardless of other circumstances.
The children are LOVING the Children Desiring God songs on cd, this term we learnt many covering a range of topics. We learnt too, more about God, who He is, what He is like and how we should react towards Him. He is : omniscient, good, never-tiring, jealous, righteous, wrathful, patient, merciful, zealous, the deliverer and victorious. As I prepared myself, this was a great source of encouragement to me and a reminder of who He is and what I really am like, the heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can understand it ?
The tract outreach on Thursdays has been very interesting. Met my first sangoma and not long after that a husband of a sangoma. Met with : a prisoner who was saved in the jail, police men and women who asked for tracts after I had parked my car in their premises, Adam from Burkino Faso, an old man thinking all was too late for him and life without hope, a young man working with his father in the tyre business, a lady who seemed to think I looked underfed and so twice presented me with wonderful African food. Someone is sponsoring the tract ministry monthly now, so am able to print three new tracts per month.
Earnest from arts and crafts run by Lizzie, has been ‘earnest’ with the rolling of paper strips into paper beads. He taught his mother, and she now makes strings of beads and sells them in Maputo.
A church handed over a large amount of second hand clothing, which went to Helping Hands, who are a very organised Home Based Care in Sangweni.
Kind Khumalo the gardener at Isiziba Primary, begun a new little garden bed as one drives into the school, he is caring for it with much affection.
Had missionaries from the Challenge Newspaper come and spend an afternoon with me at the Thuthuka Bible Club, - it was good for us all. They left the children with a huge pile of newspapers for their school.
We have seen answers to your prayers regarding the Siphiwe assembly. The children are singing well now and listening carefully as the Word is taught. Please pray too, that next term will go even better.
The Bible reading programme seemed to begin with seriously zealous children, week by week proving that not to be so. Each week there has been much encouragement given and reminders for children to begin the programme. We are left with four faithful children who read daily. Please pray much that many others would take up their Bibles and come to love His Word.
Had a Saturday Bible Club at Inxiweni Primary where Gayle teaches each week. We had children galore and wondered just how far the cool drink and biscuits would stretch. We found for the first time since working in Tembisa, that the school had left us many litres of juice and Mercia and Naomi went out to the spaza shop and bought extra biscuits. All were catered for, plus extra.
Irving led the Thanksgiving Service at Isiziba Primary, for many children this was the first time they were part of an ordered service. Sadly, very few adults attended, but once again the children came in their droves. The dilemma again : how to stretch the meagre food we had. Gabisile from Siyazigabisa Home of Hope produced vast amounts of rolls and slices of cake and cup cakes for the children. Since last writing we really have experienced the Lord’s provision in so many differing ways, which we could never have thought or understood.
We have come to a turning point in the road. If we turn to the right mayhap our children and our children's children will go that way; but if we turn to the left, generations yet unborn will curse our names for having been unfaithful to God and to His Word.
Charles Spurgeon

(The Isiziba children found the cable holders a perfect seating arrangement before they caught their taxis home)
Serving the next generation,
Jenni
